Chipping, Sodbury
Thrive prepared a detailed application for 50 new homes, including home offices, in the village of Downton, located on the edge of the New Forest.
The site was bounded by residential development with a tight grain and building groups typical of a traditional village.
The houses were arranged along a primary street and secondary mews lane, with the site entrance designed as a small village square. The streets and spaces were emphasised with key buildings and building groups that draw directly on the architectural character of traditional buildings found within the village. Careful attention was paid to the choice of materials and detailing with subtle variations in brick colour, painted brick and render.
