Meet the team

Peter is a chartered architect with a keen interest in urban design.

As well as his role overseeing the practice, Peter remains very much hands-on leading residential, mixed-use, and commercial projects for both developer and landowner clients. Peter also specialises in the design of retirement villages, care homes, extra care housing and designing for dementia. Peter has particular expertise in traditional and classical architecture having worked with the Duchy of Cornwall on several award-winning traditional design schemes.

Allison controls all financial, corporate legal and HR matters for both studios.

Allison’s role has diversified over the years, to encompass all financial aspects of the practice along with HR matters and the corporate legalities of running the Thrive studios. Allison joined Thrive in 1999 and has progressed through the company in recognition of the key management role she has taken on within the practice.

Gary specialises in urban design for residential and mixed-use developments.

Gary joined Thrive in 1998, holds a Master’s degree and is a Recognised Practitioner in urban design. Gary has worked on many of the practice’s award-winning schemes; such as Fairfield Park, Bedfordshire, which was awarded Building for Life ‘Gold Status’, and also leads a range of urban design projects for developer and landowner clients. Gary has acted as an urban design advisor for several local authorities including Central Bedfordshire Council and his pioneering work on design coding was featured by the DCLG in their practice manual ‘Preparing Design Codes’, published in 2006.

Trevor joined Thrive in 2012 and runs the Portishead studio.

Trevor was previously Design Director for a national house builder and has held senior roles within the industry for a number of years. Trevor has delivered schemes and planning consents for many thousands of homes and seen projects through from inception to delivery. His extensive knowledge of housing is of tremendous benefit to Thrive, providing clients with the confidence that we understand the mechanics of housing development, and deliver the most effective design solutions.

Mark has over 30 years of experience in technical design.

Mark has considerable experience providing technical expertise for predominantly residential, mixed-use and retirement developments. Mark is responsible for running our Technical Department between both offices and has established a strong relationship with many of the country’s leading national housebuilders and developers.

Tom joined Thrive in 2011 and has twenty years experience. Throughout his career, he has historically worked on and prepared planning applications but has honed his expertise within the Technical field including commercial, leisure, hotel, industrial and conversion projects. He particularly specialises in residential developments and has detailed knowledge of the numerous technical standards that need to be considered along with an understanding of the needs of Developers. Tom is responsible for overseeing the Technical Department in our Romsey office.

Derek joined Thrive in 2006, bringing over thirty years of experience to the practice. Throughout his career, he has worked for some of the country’s leading architects and is passionate about quality design. Derek runs a design team managing all aspects of feasibility, urban design and architectural work for a range of private landowner & developer clients. He is committed to ensuring the implementation and delivery of projects is to a high standard ensuring the detailing and design integrity of schemes is maintained from inception to completion.

Chris joined Thrive in 2014 and is a considered designer who brings his passion for good design to our developer clients. Prior to specialising in residential design, he worked on a range of industrial, commercial and healthcare projects. Chris has represented a range of clients from small independent developers to national housebuilders. It’s this experience that has given him an understanding of the particular requirements that our clients expect.
