Archer’s Gate & Kings Gate

The Archer’s Gate and King’s Gate development of 1600 new homes south of Boscombe Road, Amesbury is nearly completion.

The development includes local retail facilities, pub/restaurant, community building, two primary schools, playing fields, sports pavilion, public open space, skate park and a new link road running alongside Boscombe Down Airfield.

All of these elements were masterplanned before the detailed design stages, and guided by a detailed Design Code. Although the majority of the development is designed to reflect a traditional Wiltshire architectural vernacular, there are notable contemporary elements including a striking crescent at the heart of the scheme.

The site is famous for an archaeological find known as the ‘Amesbury Archer’. The archaeological significance of the site is recognised in public art within the development including the Amesbury Archer statue in the local centre and archer design on the school gates.
