Approval for 27 new homes at Downside Road, Cobham

Thrive Architects are delighted to have assisted Obsidian Strategic in gaining approval at the recent Elmbridge Borough Planning Committee. This site is for 27No new homes at Downside Road, Cobham.

The approvals propose a re-development of a Sawmill and former Stud located between the villages of Cobham and Downside. This provides 27No new 1, 2 & 3 bedroom homes at Downside Road, Cobham in the Borough of Elmbridge. The northern part of the site retains the existing access from Downside Road, which is a shared access with The Medicine Garden, a former Kitchen Garden for the adjacent Cobham Park House.

The Architectural Design takes its cues from the local vernacular and the former barns & stables found on the site. The southern part of the site locates a Farm-house scale dwelling. This dwelling sits in front of a village green framed by a farmyard style cluster of dwellings and car barns.

Securing a resolution to grant for a large housing development in the Green Belt, in Elmbridge Borough, is a very rare occurrence.
