Thrive assisted with the detailed design, full planning application and full working drawing package for 117 homes within phases J, K and M of the former MoD Stores Enclave. The scheme was the final phase of a 10 year regeneration scheme led by the Homes and Communities Agency and Redrow Homes, and formed a fundamental element of the wider regeneration of Devonport.
A key feature of the design was to conclude the redevelopment of the frontage of Chapel Street, a main thoroughfare and access point into the site. The layout was designed to recreate the historic street pattern destroyed by wartime bombing.
Architecturally, a final ‘evolution’ of the earlier phases was applied, this was rooted in the local traditional 18th & 19th Century style but with a modern approach featuring clean lines, crisp detailing and utilising local materials. A major feature of the development is the use of high specification surface materials and high quality landscaping to augment the overall quality of the scheme.
