Aldridge, West Midlands.
This small development of 8 large detached villas arranged around a courtyard is located on the outskirts of Walsall. The scheme includes a long tree-lined drive approach that wraps around an entrance green.
The houses were designed in a variety of styles that broadly reflect the suburban vernacular revival housing popular in the first half of the 20th Century and evident in the nearby Sutton Coldfield. The houses were designed to reduce their overall scale including dropped eaves, dormer/bay windows, half-timbering, projecting gables and external chimneys with decorative brick detailing. Generously planted front gardens create a landscape context that compliments the built form.
