Peter is a chartered architect with a keen interest in urban design. As well as his role overseeing the practice, Peter remains very much hands-on leading residential, mixed-use, and commercial projects for both developer and land owner clients. Peter also specialises in the design of: retirement villages, care homes, extra care housing and designing for dementia. Peter has a particular expertise in traditional and classical architecture having worked with the Duchy of Cornwall on several award winning traditional design schemes.

Thrive is owned by the directors who work closely with an experienced team of around 70 staff. Our team comprises architects, urban designers, technologists, graphic designers and sustainability consultants.
Gary RiderUrban Design Director MA Email Gary
Gary joined Thrive in 1998 and has since developed a specialism in urban design for residential and mixed-use development. He holds a Master’s degree and is a Recognised Practitioner in urban design. Gary has worked on many of the practices award winning schemes; such as Fairfield Park, Bedfordshire, which was awarded Building for Life ‘Gold Status’, and also leads a range of urban design projects for developer and land owner clients. Gary has acted as urban design advisor for several local authorities including Central Bedfordshire Council and his pioneering work on design coding was featured by the DCLG in their practice manual ‘Preparing Design Codes’, published in 2006.

Mark has considerable experience providing technical expertise for predominantly; residential, mixed-use and retirement developments. Mark is responsible for running our Technical Department and has established a strong relationship with many of the country’s leading national house builders and developers.
Allison OsborneFinance & Human Resources Director Email Allison
Allison joined Thrive in 1999, and was appointed Company Secretary in 2004 in recognition of the key management role she had taken on within the practice. Allison’s role has diversified over the years to encompass all financial aspects of the practice along with HR matters and the legalities of running two Thrive studios.
Trevor WrightDesign Director (Portishead Studio) Email Trevor
Trevor joined Thrive in 2012 and runs the Portishead studio. Trevor was previously Design Director for a national house builder and has held senior roles within the industry for a number of years. Trevor has delivered schemes and planning consents for many thousands of homes and seen projects through from inception to delivery. His extensive knowledge of housing is of tremendous benefit to Thrive, providing clients with the confidence that we understand the mechanics of housing development, and deliver the most effective design solutions.
Derek BrentnallAssociate Director Email Derek
Derek joined Thrive in 2006, bringing twenty five years of experience to the practice. Throughout his career he has worked for some of the country’s leading architects and is passionate about quality design. Derek runs a design team managing all aspects of feasibility, urban design and architectural work for a range of private landowner & developer clients. He is committed to ensuring the implementation and delivery of projects is to a high standard ensuring the detailing and design integrity of schemes is maintained from inception to completion.

Tom joined Thrive in 2011 and has twenty years experience including commercial, leisure, hotel, industrial and conversion projects. Throughout his career he has historically worked on and prepared planning applications but has honed his expertise within the Technical field. He particularly specialises in residential developments and has detailed knowledge of the numerous technical standards that need to be considered along with an understanding of the needs of Developers. Tom is responsible for over-seeing the Technical Department in our Romsey office.

Matthew joined Thrive at the start of 2014. He has a range of architectural skills, and years of experience working on residential and mixed-use projects. Originally from a technical background, his role focusses on detailed design stages of projects. Matthew is responsible for feasibility layouts and planning applications, along with managing the in-house architectural design team.

Alastair joined Thrive in 2013, bringing previous experience predominantly in the residential and mixed use sectors. Alastair oversees the planning team in the Portishead office, managing all stages of the planning and design process from feasibility through to detailed design, delivering numerous planning consents. As a chartered architect, Alastair has a focus on design quality with an emphasis on technical delivery and client satisfaction. Alastair also has a sound knowledge of Building Regulations, British Standards and national housing design standards, resulting in solutions that are implementable and well considered.

Chris joined Thrive in 2014 and is a considered designer who brings his passion for good design to our developer clients. Prior to specialising in residential design, he worked on a range of industrial, commercial and healthcare projects. Chris has represented a range of clients from small independent developers to national house builders. It’s this experience that has given him the understanding of the particular requirements that our clients expect.
Kevin MoyseAssociate Director Email Kevin
Kevin joined Thrive in March 2015 and is responsible for overseeing the Technical Department in the Portishead office. Previously, Kevin has managed his own company providing technical services to a range of clients, held several senior roles with various developers as well as working within various Architectural practices spanning nearly 20 years. This has been primarily within in the Residential Sector including individual builds and larger scale multi-phase development. Kevin possesses a detailed understanding of client expectations which, with a keen eye for detail and passion for his discipline, provide the impetus for our technical team to deliver high quality construction drawings.
Victoria NornAssociate Director Mplan Pg Cert UD MRTPI Email Victoria
Victoria joined Thrive in 2011, currently overseeing and managing the Planning, and Design & Build teams in the Romsey Office. With over 10 years of experience in the UK construction industry working on projects of varying scale and nature. In addition to drafting and preparing detailed design documentation for technical design, production information and tender stages, she is also an HQI and Building for Life Assessor and has completed an APS Certified course in Construction Design and Management.
Keith ShearerAssociate Director Mplan Pg Cert UD MRTPI Email Keith
Keith Shearer trained at Cambridge University School of Architecture and qualified as a Chartered Architect in 1982. He joined Thrive in May 2018 and is responsible for developing residential schemes from initial feasibility and concept stages through to outline and detailed planning applications. Keith brings more than 35 years experience in architecture and masterplanning. He has been responsible for architectural projects and residential-led masterplanning for both public and private sector clients. Throughout his career he has been involved in organising and facilitating public consultation events of various kinds, and he is a firm believer in value of tailoring each project to its context and to the needs of the local community.

Craig has been with Thrive since 2001 and brings extensive experience of technical and sustainable design. Craig is responsible for running the sustainability department as well as having a continuing role overseeing the integration between the design, technical drawing and sustainability agendas.
