Veteran’s Village, Wilton Civic Core

The Wilton Civic Core is at the heart of the new Wilton Hill neighbourhood, built on the site of the former Erskine army barracks. The centre includes an Enterprise Hub, specialist flats for the rehabilitation of ex-army veterans, housing for army veterans with families, a care home and a crèche. The buildings are designed to the highly sustainable rating of BREEAM Excellent.

The current phase of development, the Veteran’s Village, being progressed by Acheson Construction on behalf of Our Wilton, comprises of 44 flats, a community café, meeting space and function hall. Alabaré, a charity organisation that provide supported living for veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, have been allocated 12 of the apartments. We are proud to have been involved in this success story with Our Wilton and helping to extend Alabaré’s support within Salisbury and across the South and South West of England and Wales. The site is due for completion in 2019, and offers a mixture of high quality studio, one and two bedroom apartments.

We are currently developing the detailed design for the Enterprise Hub. The next phase of the core will provide small units in a community setting for young start-up businesses and a space for ex-servicemen to train and reskill for civilian life.

This scheme was part of the overall redevelopment of the Ministry of Defence site at the Wilton Barracks in Salisbury. Our involvement has included the full design of the residential scheme constructed by Redrow, in addition to the Community Civic Core.
